This rollercoaster doesn’t stop automatically
The Great Scenic Railway, at Luna Park in Melbourne, Australia, is the second oldest rollercoaster in the world: and it’s one of only a few which still uses a manual brake. Here’s how it works. ◾ Luna Park: https://lunapark.com.au/ @lunaparkmelbourne

I know, the obvious question is: what if you don't brake? For obvious reasons, that's never been tested; all the answers about it were so cautious they didn't work in the video! But in summary, there wouldn't be a disaster: it'd probably cause a bit of whiplash for folks on board, and the ride would need to get thoroughly checked over afterwards.

If only Tom had never gone to Alton Towers that day when he rode Wicker Man and Nemesis… this video would never have existed

Normally you think you shouldn’t ever stand up on a roller coaster

A coaster that had been operating without a major incident in a hundred years? Does not need modernization… It needs council to shove its head up their arse and look the other way.

one of the best days of school I ever had was having a physics excursion to Luna Park. We get a booklet about forces and have to ride the rollercoasters and then describe the physics behind each one.
SO good! I hope Luna Park continue to run that excursion for decades to come!

i love that i saw this title & thought "what so special about that it's like lunar park" and i am then shot 72 times in the chest by the sheer familiarly of the opening scene and tom just saying The Great Scenic Railway like its some majestic feat of nature.

I love how Tom Scott insisted on sitting in a moving train car throughout the whole video, just to really emphasise that
"YES, I have indeed overcome my fear for roller coasters now!".
