It’s a brand new Terminator 2 game, arriving just 34 years late. The question is, why do we need this game? Were the T2 games released in the 90s THAT bad? Well, the answer is an interesting one…

This video looks at Terminator 2 C64, Terminator 2 ZX Spectrum, Terminator 2 Amstrad, Terminator 2 MSDOS, Terminator 2 Amiga, Terminator 2 Atari ST, Terminator 2 Arcade, Terminator 2 Sega Genesis, Terminator 2 SNES, Terminator 2 NES, Terminator 2 Master System, Terminator 2 GameBoy, Terminator 2 Game Gear and Terminator 2D: No Fate. To name a few.

The Bethesda made Terminator on PC was amazing but it didn’t hold your hand and was a huge open world. You could buy, steal, rob people and get into gunfights with cops and you had to find a phone book to track down all the Sarah Connor’s and kill them if your playing as the terminator and if your playing as Reese you have to find the right Sarah before the terminator does and then kill the terminator when it finally finds you and Sarah.

This video was such a delight to watch – I've never seen anyone integrate the sponsor bit so aptly and entertainingly, and you really went in-depth on the history. I love the Terminator franchise to death, particularly the first two films. I got exposed to them young thanks to a bestie who had two older teenage brothers (his parents had therefore given up early on keeping him away from the more gory or violent sci-fi and horror videos), didn't think much about them for years, and then at eighteen or nineteen happened to catch T2 on telly, and was transfixed by how every single frame of it looked amazing. It was just a perfectly judged movie that kept you riveted, and my love of both Terminator (in those pre-T3 days, kept alive mainly by novelisations and by the many comics released between and after the first two films) and cinema in general blossomed from there. T2 really did give me a lot, and the release of this game has stirred up so many great discussions on Youtube not just of the game itself, but of the movie, so there's a warm glow around it even though I haven't played it yet. Much as I enjoyed the T2 NES game (and the SNES version of T2: The Arcade Game was hugely fun), this looks to be on another level – a real labour of love. I'm curious as to what other projects this one might inspire – if not from the same team, then from other devs of similar skill and ambition: there must be so many beloved films from the 80s and 90s that deserved a much better game than they ever got back then…

Loved this video, it brought back the nostalgia nerd in me for sure. I remember getting the C64 tape……yes TAPE version and omg the load times were long. If I was lucky enough to get past the 1st level I had to wait 10 minuets to die pretty much instantly in the truck chase level and wait another 10 minuets for it to load back to the 1st level and try again. I don't think I was any good at games back as a kid though or games were really hard back then. The amount of time wasted trying to play this game was on another level. Thank you for this.

I will always vouch for the SNES T2 for how ridiculous and unique the mall level is. You're running around shotgunning the shit out of everyone and everything while the game has to directly insist to you, the player, that no one is actually dying despite what's happening being dead obvious. It's absurd (and great.)

Before games like GTA told you to be naughty, this kind of thing was really special. It's actually even more special in that it's running an active coverup and whitewashing of your own violence while you perpetrate it. Like I said, totally unique,

yeah we had to wait 30 odd years for an overpriced retro terminator game that can be completed in about half an hour. this one has bargain bin all over it, and will wait for a hefty sale.

My 1st C64 packed, so my dad bought me the newer style C64 T2 edition with the game being on catridge. I loved it and remembered it having more levels than what was shown here in the ZX version.
I specifically remember a level where you played as Sarah Connor

Edit: I wrote too soon and see your mention of the additional levels now

I got T2 on the Megadrive, thought it was the arcade game as that was also on the Megadrive but it was the other one. After my initial dissapointment I actually really enjoyed it but at one point in the game I just couldn't figure out where I was supposed to drive to and couldn't continue

    OMG, Paper VPN?! Seriously?!!
    Wow
For those who don't know – it's a VPN service made and supported by (a rather good) independent media centered around Russian city Saint-Petersburg, so quite local.
As far as I know it is a good VPN service (especially if you only can pay with Russian bank cards) but I was genuinely surprised to see it promoted on your channel.
    Wow

T2 NF is a game that runs completely on nostalgia. As an arcade lover that believes they are the pinnacle of gaming, if you took the nostalgia and license away, youd have a game stuck between wanting to be for 'a modern audience' and wanting to be a true arcade game.

It's gotten to the point to where if I hear a dev talking about "updating a game for modern audiences", i know it's going to fucking suck. Same thing happened to the new Ninja Gaiden and Shinobi…

I'll vouch for the Gameboy game. It's short, you can complete it in like five to ten minutes if you know what to do but it contains: the future war, reprogramming the t-800, the motorcycle chase, the cyberdyne labs, and finally the showdown with the T-1000. It's not great, but is arguably the only game from that time that adequately reflects what this new version is: a sampler platter of relevant scenes.
