It Conquered the World (1956) – Monster Madness 2024

Cinemassacre | October 11, 2026

Roger Corman did lots of different kinds of movies over the span of his long career, but in the 1950s he directed many low-budget monster movies. This month wouldn’t feel right without featuring at least one of those movies, so today I’m talking about It Conquered the World!

Like all of Corman's 50s films, this one has its silly moments but overall it's a ton of fun. If this had been remade in the 80s, Veronica Cartwright would have been excellent as Clair. In 1966 Larry Buchanan made a remake titled Zontar , the Thing From Venus.

Hey Guys I am trying to find a movie. Maybe you may be able to help. I saw it when i was a little kid but cant remember the name…..I would say the movie was made in the late 50s? …A pilot lands his 2 seater plane in a town but when he lands there is no one about. So he ventures into the town and all is deserted . eventually he finds someone who is still living in the town and the person says everone has vanished and that there seems some kind of barrier around this town which stops people from communicating with anyone outside of this town…..but someone this guys plane managed to get through this barrier…….The person also says when the mist comes out thats when these creatures come out…..The creatures as i remember look like some guy in a space suit but i maybe wrong………And no its not the movie THE FOG this movie is from the 50s or latest very early 60s………any help and i would be grateful for the name of the film. Thank you.

Wow it's like reading the plot synopsis for the movie on Wikipedia but in video form! It's impressive how one can make a review of an entire movie and with 2 opinions and criticism expressed about the entire film. Amazing. Only this channel would've given me the elaborate analytical observationS of, the monsters look ridiculous, and, the film is cheesy, apparently. These movie videos should be called Plot EXPLAINED to help out all those people who want to just hear a summary of a plot and that's all. I can see why the word review isn't in the titles of these videos.

I don't think it looked ridiculous and Paul Blaisdell the creator never liked it being laughed at it. Not true it was actually smaller and Blaisdell designed it to a 10-Foot-Tall Version. I understand the speech, and it was moving that's B.S. the creature dubbed Beulah also. Lee Van Cleef did a bunch of Noirs as a heavy not just Westerns. Zontar was made and released in 1966 not 1967. It Conquered the World '56 is not a bad movie nor is it cheesy and this review sucks too. You didn't even talk about the actresses when you talked about the female cast Beverly Garland and Sally Fraser that are favorites of the 50's-60's. Something against women? The creature was also made to look vegetable like because of Venus' low-gravity and vegetable life. Fuck this review I could do a way better one. I don't waste my time you fucks never have anything nice to say about these films and just knock them.

I absolutely love the soothing atmosphere that James makes in his Monster Madness series. I could listen to him talking for hours about different eras of horror movies, although I'm not a horror fan.

I am forever grateful for people like Corman or Blaisdell, because their passion granted us so many awesome and memorable moments in film history.
And it always seems like the truly enjoy the craft that they do, which is all the better.

Interestingly enough, the alien conquerer appeared in an episode of Kid Cosmic, a Netflix cartoon created by Craig McCracken. The same guy who made The Powerpuff Girls and Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends.
