Gilbert died of cancer on September 20, 2026, in Nashville at age 45. In an Instagram Story posted September 23, the Paramore singer called him “a legend in the scene” and wrote that she will “forever be grateful” for what he taught her about hardcore culture.

So tragic. NFG has been a constant source of positivity since I was a teenager. Dying this young from turbo cancer is not normal. I do have to wonder if the you-know-what was a factor. F*** this modern age. I'm going to escape with some early 2000's pop punk. Thanks for the good times, Chad. Rest in power.

What a lucky dude. He got out of there before it was too late and fulfilled his dream of having a beautiful wife and beautiful daughter. Oh, yeah. The music thing, too.

I don't want to sound insensitive but that tribute wasn't "beautiful". It was as detached and cold as it could be, almost impersonal and her weirdo fans are already twisting it. It's nice that she said he was an inspiration.
I remember frank iero's tribute to Bob Bryar (totally different situations, I understand) but that was classy, beautiful and very human eulogy, it was very empathetic.
Idk, I feel that if she was torn between saying or not anything she already had her answer.
