Just walking around in the real world seems need huge amount of computation. They are using tons of tons of tons of computers to simulate some part of human logic capabilities now. But then humans use a large portion of their brain just to walk around. The amount of computation needed for that is unimaginably large. Small robots with small circuits can emulate some walking in controlled environment but is way off from working in real world.

South Park episode of 2008 "mouse to grow a human ear" promising required transplantation organs grown in laboratory conditions failed, clone of Sheep Dolly was overhyped story and not even 100% clone, nobody remembers. Stem cells and Christopher Reeve in wheelchair is good person and everyone wanted to recover him, but Stem cells impacts is questionable. Tharnos all diagnose from drop of blood even got financial fraud. Robots in automation is good robot arm on 3D is mazing in manufacturing but android human like workers is impossible everyone knows that but same as "mouse to grow a human ear" is not change fact that for transplantancy of organs need organs grown by living creature inside his body and later removed by surgery. Sheep Dolly 1996 and prediction in 2006 humans will grown (cloned) in glass jar as in Star Wars Luke recovery of tissue in glass jar or in Starship Troopers never movie never happened, people still doing babies in most fun way possible LOL. Or maybe Futurama Cubert J. Farnsworth have pig nose becuase hew grew inside glass jar and his nose touched wall in growing process :))))))
Same story with androids, we cannot deny robotics achievements but robots are not androids (humanoids or cyborgs) same as Artificial intelligence is not consciousness not even close, but still l as artificial search super search engine it is amazing technology. No chances to win Jeopardy even for most smartest person, against AI 🙂

9:46 Jesus christ the robot blew his knees! Reminds me of that episode of South Park where one of the boys get leg-extensions to get good at basketball.
He managed to go pro for a couple seconds before his knees departed.
I thought Boston Dynamics was a big corporation and the robots we see on youtube only was a small part of their business. Turns out that's all they do.
It's a tech demo company that's been around for years.
I applaud the research but given the media presence I'm also disappointed.

The humanoid form is probably the least efficient. Actual human beings are evolutionary accidents; if you wanted to create a sentient being starting with the proverbial "clean sheet of paper" it'd look nothing like a human.

The military did realise though that pack mules were useful for carrying stuff. We currently have poor people in poor countries mining rocks that kill them before they reach their 40's, just to pay off their medical debts. With minimal equipment.

Even if they eventually can make robots with fine motor skills like humans, the biggest problem will be the battery. They always ignore the autonomy duration of the robots in their demonstrations. Battery technology also seems to have reached a dead end.

Sending the robot dog to force people apart during a “pandemic” with a 99% survival rate is insane. If it was that dangerous, they wouldn’t need to use authoritarian arms of the government to force people apart.

The biggest issue with robots is the engineering roadblocks that limit actual use…there are limitations to the physical aspects but ALSO the AI. What people dont realize is that AI is still a glorified chatbot today. The number of sensors and processing that needs to occur to do a basic task is enormous.

I work in an industrial facility and I def walk about 5 miles a day during shifts. These are not used at all

Humanoids are more like tech demonstrators. You develop advanced sensing/balancing capabilities and then transplant these capabilities onto traditional industrial robots to make them more capable.

I've often wondered if robots will require insurance like automobiles. For example, you invite friends over for a BBQ, while there your Tesla robot has a meltdown and attacks someone, or harms someone seriously i.e. destroys someone's eyeball. How will this be handled? Who is liable?

Bro xpung is the not only robot in China. Unitree and other robots are already hitting it to the production floor, airbus recently placed orders for Chinese humanoid robots to work in their plant. I know that people in airbus aren't fools so yes I think this is the future, but yes optimus and Boston dynamics robots are disappointing but the Chinese robots are doing really really good, you just showed xpung and assumed that all other Chinese robots are the same, I think you see the Chinese new year gala and how unitrees robots performed, and also T800 humanoid and many other cutting edge robots from China, they are on an other level compared to tesla and Boston dynamics robots

Even if you do want robots to take over (I don't) humanoid shapes are highly ineffective. Humans gave up walking on our hands to hold tools. Robots can just add 2 extra arms.
