Chad Gilbert Of New Found Glory Has Died At 45
New Found Glory founding guitarist Chad Gilbert has died at 45. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of September 20th, three months after returning to the stage with the band in Nashville. His wife Lisa and bandmates Jordan, Ian, Cyrus and Dan shared the statement on Instagram. Chad was diagnosed with cancer in 2021.

Dude that’s heartbreaking. I loved seeing his joy in music videos and all around just really added to that bands awesome stage performance. Crazy. Prayers for his friends, family and all effected by this 🙏

I think we all knew it was coming at some point, but this hits hard.
RIP to an absolute legend of pop punk, one of my favorite guitarists and inspirations growing up, and somebody who probably helped shape a lot of us into who we are today with his music and later his positivity in such a terrible situation.
Terrible loss. Chad was so much to New Found Glory.

Damn…I saw New Found Glory back in the early 2000’s. They opened for Blink-182 at the Gorge in George, WA. Some of the best years of my life. Love so many of their songs…always puts me in a happy place. To his friends and family…I am so sorry for your loss…from a stranger who loved the music he helped create.

I was a big NFG fan back in my university years. "Hit or Miss" was probably one of my favorite songs. I never knew what any of the band members names were, but they rocked! RIP Chad Gilbert

This one hurts. Stick and Stones and Catalyst were the albums that got me through my early teenage years, and I was fortunate to see him perform at the Honda Civic Tour with Paramore and Tegan & Sara in 2010. Seeing live for the first time and hearing that sick "My Friends Over You" riff while I sing my ass off along with the crowd is a memory that never leaves my soul. I got to re-experience it again at When We Were Young 2024, but unfortunately, he wasn't playing due to his cancer treatment, but I was beyond happy for him when I heard he played back in June of this year.
Such an amazing talent that we'll miss dearly. Rest in peace, Chad ❤️
