The problem with Anirban Bandyopadhyay’s programme is not that it is “unconventional”; it is that ordinary observations are repeatedly inflated into extraordinary conclusions without the intermediate evidence. Resonances become “time crystals,” optical modes become “qubits,” self-assembly becomes “quantum annealing,” and microtubule oscillations somehow lead to cognition, consciousness and synchronization with the universe. None of those arrows follows automatically. Where are the unambiguous symmetry-breaking criteria for the time crystal, the qubit Hilbert space, coherence times, entanglement witnesses, process tomography, gate fidelities, independently reproduced quantum teleportation, and computational benchmarks? Pictures of vortices, frequency hierarchies and poetic talk about clocks are not substitutes for these.

This Essentia interview makes the problem worse because it allows this chain of speculation to glide almost seamlessly from nanoscience into metaphysics. A MHz signal does not establish a microtubule origin; a microtubule resonance does not establish quantum coherence; quantum coherence would not establish quantum computation; and none of these establishes universal consciousness. This is how pseudoscientific narratives acquire an appearance of depth: established technical vocabulary is continually stretched until almost any observation can be fitted into the story.

What makes this more serious than an eccentric personal theory is its connection to IIT Mandi. Bandyopadhyay is associated with its quantum centre, has published with Director Laxmidhar Behera, and related optical-quantum ideas are now tied to a very large publicly funded programme. Behera’s own history of making scientifically unsupported public claims makes independent scrutiny even more important. If IIT Mandi genuinely has a novel quantum computer, demonstrate it using the same benchmarks demanded everywhere else in quantum information. Public money deserves physics, not a private vocabulary of “clocks,” gels, vortices and consciousness dressed in the word quantum.

I think he might have just finished the theory of everything but he is trying to be nice to you explaining it in easy ways.

Once you asked if clocks are like gears going from lower to higher he said it is a good question not because it was good, but because he just spent 5 minutes trying to tell you the exact opposite and now he knows what answer will push the conversation further.

This is something I have not seen explained so well in mathematical manner. I cant wait to see his work.
