I get it, and if I was trying to be objective, I’d probably agree with most of these rankings- but that first album will never be beaten in my eyes. Just incredible, eye-opening raw black metal

The Sigh is the only album to come close to Poppy's Empty Hands this year! I've followed Sigh from the start but prefer the last 3 albums to the earlier stuff. Now to check out your rankings.

Graveward (2015) has a special place in my heart. Kvarforth was a guest vocalist on that one. Good stuff.

Personally, Goh-Ka may be my favorite Sigh album to date.

Sigh’s new album is probably one of the best albums of the year! The musicianship in that band is absolutely incredible.

Sorry but the current one, it s easily the ' sleep token ' of 2026😂😂😂
Decent album BUT it s a try hard one. This fusion of how many sounds n metal n Japan bla bla ,is TOO complicated n the result is boring.
People JUST love everything that sounds different without even filtering it first.
If you want something truly good n unique go listen to MALUM INCARNATUM,de zeue hauedeyeas 😅😅😅 or whatever.
TOP TOP black metal album and one of the best releases of the LAST DECADE.

I'm gonna go against the grain here, but I love infidel art. From Death's SBG influence on the zombie terror to the Discharge riffage and pacing peppered throughout the album. And I love the doomy elements.
Defo a product of it's time but I really do appreciate this album.

I'm a Japanese man, my fav sigh album is shiki. Btw, Japanese metal band KOKESHI is famous in western?
They sound like DIR EN GREY or Sigh.

Something I love about Goh-ka (and their current japanese era since Heir to despair) is that every album feels more real, holding the massive weight of whats happening in the mind of Mirai Kawashima, I like how his fears can be related to ancient traditional japanese culture concepts and how he turns them into metal music. This is more true than ever in Goh Ka, you can feel the fear and despair in Mirai vocals, the weight and urgency of death approaching, holding a lost fight against impermanence,. The final minutes of this album reflect so well how dying would sound in first person, like passing through a limbo where the horror of infinite void overcome all senses until you turn into bones… But then peace return, all fear and struggle is gone, now we listen from outer perspective the sound of being finally in peace with not existing and becoming one with nature.

Never heard of them before, just in time for my current dive into bizarre black metal and adjacents

You could probably put any album of theirs anywhere on this list and it will be solid. Been a fan since I blind bought Imaginary Soniscapes as a teenager.

Fun fact, the first letters of their records spell "Sigh" over and over (the first G you missed was Ghastly Funeral Theatre)

My all-time favorite band (tied with BTBAM). Ranking albums, near-impossible.

Sigh is so interesting and all over the place with sounds they've covered that you can just randomize a tier list and I'd probably believe it. Scenes from Hell is and probably will always be my favorite, but the fight for second and third places is absolutely ruthless. I need to give Goh-Ka a few more listens, but I can see myself putting it near the top.
Thoughts on Ghastly Funeral Theater? I'd slept on that for a bit too long, but I think I might like it more than Hail Horror Hail. It's their only major EP and is part of their every 4 album titles spell out "SIGH" gimmick. Probably could have been worth mentioning.

Started with Hangman's Hymn (which remains my favourite) and while I don't love everything they do, I always have a ton of respect for it. Looking forward to even more of them keeping it weird.

Love Sigh, saw them live just last week, on the same day Goh-ka dropped. Amazing stuff.
Nice ranking too, Scenes from Hell and Hangman's Hymn are among my favorites.

I've been following Sigh since Hangman's Hymn and the albums after, but I really need to dive into Hail Horror Hail and Imaginary Sonicscape. My guy, you were 10 years too late on the date of Scenes From Hell, but I'm glad to finally see the updated Sigh discography ranking.

Also their re-recording of Hangman's Hymn is so damn good and a great example of a GOOD re-recording
