Wolf debating whether to walk past trail camera on beaver dam
The quintessential boreal forest scene: a majestic wolf crossing a beaver dam that spans a remote conifer-covered stretch of river with a light summer rain.
This Bluebird Lake Pack member spent quite a while debating whether to walk past our camera! We have never seen a wolf labor this long over such a decision. Most of the times they just walk right by without thinking much of it.
But in this instance, the wolf spent 5 minutes debating what to do! Pretty interesting to watch the wolf seemingly process and contemplate the correct decision. Ultimately the wolf decided that it didn’t want to cross.
Anyway, we thought this was some neat footage that we got when swapping SD cards the other day and wanted to share!

I had a coyote last week terrified of my trail cam. At night, broad daylight. Didn't matter. I have to wonder if they are going to avoid the area because of the camera.

It has been a stormy few days in northern Minnesota. Duluth Harbor Cam over the canal, wind howling (like a wolf – see what I did there), waves (crashing on the rocks and over the canal wall), and rain – like the gales of November.

Perhaps the result of previous negative conditioning, a complete lack of conditioning (new and unfamiliar scent) or just the animal's individual personality quirks?
