These Ads Are So β90s They Probably Called You Collect | Comedy Central – April 1999 πΊπΌ V604
A time capsule straight out of April 1999, recorded during an evening of Comedy Central programming, including South Park.
This batch is packed with peak late-β90s advertising: video games, 1-800-COLLECT, strange products, sarcastic punchlines, dark humor, and the kind of commercials that probably wouldnβt make it past a marketing meeting today.
Nearly three decades later, the ads may be just as entertaining as the shows they interrupted.
These commercials all come from a single VHS tape donated by one of our subscribers, which I personally transferred/restored here in the Retro Dungeon.

Tommy and the Order of Cosmic Champions
TOMMY AND THE ORDER OF COSMIC CHAMPIONS by Anthony D. Grate and Anthony J. Rapino is a well-told coming-of-age story wrapped in a shiny layer of 1980s nostalgia.

We didn't know how good we had it, back when commercials were entertaining and creative, they're so boring now. Pretty sad…….

Thanks for all the work you do Dave, watching old commercials has become my favorite passtime over the last few years. As someone born in the early 90's, it's wild to see just how much culture we've lost over the years & sadly continue to lose. But you've created a wonderful & important time capsule to share with future generations, well done & thank you!

the 90's were a very different time for sure with things like collect calls, the birth of 3D gaming, and comedy where people weren't yet as easily offended by the slightest off color joke, thanks for bringing back the good times Dave!!!

Words can't describe how much I hated all of those 1-800-Collect, C-A-L-L-A-T-T, or 10-10-whatever the hell it was commercials. I got so goddamn sick of seeing those all the time.
Bruh, I genuinely miss when Photoshop was used to try and trick people with fake images.
17:48 – 18:15 Man, Life was marketed as a comedy, but it is so much more than that.

These commercials are so '90s that it almost makes me wish that none of us had to fear the coming Y2K. I enjoyed seeing them all the way. I'm as glad as the rest of your supporters that you're still finding ways to keep us entertained. Thank you once again for that, Dave, my friend.
