FNX NOW: “Rez Ball”
Rez Ball, the coming-of-age basketball film produced by NBA star Lebron James and Reservation Dogs creator Sterlin Harjo is available on Netflix starting today!
The film from Navajo Director Sidney Freeland was inspired by the book “Canyon Dreams: A Basketball Season on the Navajo Nation.” It follows Jimmy Holiday, played by Kauchani Bratt (Quechua/Coahuiltecan), who must take the mantle as team leader of the Chuska Warriors, a high school basketball team rich in Native American heritage dealing with the loss of their star player.
The film deals with serious issues, such as racism and suicide, as the team unites on a journey of resilience and unity to keep their dreams of a state championship alive.
