Just as we published this video news broke that Meta settled with the states for $16.7 billion, which is frankly far less than I had expected. It takes multiple days to make each video so there is always a risk of being out of date.

Hmm, big numbers on the fines. So, where the F does all that money go to? The victims? Or the government? If the latter then I gotta say that's an easy way to siphon money off big corporations. Just wait for them to f**k up.

Anyone who believes that Meta doesn't care about engagement strategies should be locked up. And that includes Zuckerberg trying to sell that idea to the courts.

I gave up on FB the day after Mark Zuckerbourg admitted he was selling user data without their knowledge or permission, despite building FB on the false promise that it would always be free and user data would always remain private.
He paid a small fine and never faced a single day in jail.
I don’t understand why everyone else didn’t do the same thing after literally having their personal information sold to the highest bidder.

Funny how governments will prosecute cases like this, but will do nothing to p*rn companies despite the decades of research showing how much more harmful that is than social media addiction, and how many millions of kids have been exposed and addicted while the platforms do nothing to prevent this harm. Apparently women's feelings matter most. If a girl feels fat because she saw a model online, bury all the social media CEOs under a prison.

It’s time to restore corporate liability to the point that CEOs can be charged with the crimes their businesses commit and fines to be a percentage of profit versus some tiny number of they will never notice.

It's actually less then 16.7b if youtube and tiktok doesn't do the same restrictions, chip in and pay 5.2b among them as well. When you calculate inflation in the mix it's around 9.2b over 10 years. Sounds a bit less then the 1.4 trillion headline and 200b was rumoured aye?

My conspiracy theory is that this is all of this is on purpose.

Not because they make money, but because they actually want to end net neutrality and section 230.

It’s a false flag so that they can openly begin regulating free speech of normal Americans and say that it’s because of the government.

I mean, it’s literally a choice to use Facebook. No one makes you login, let alone create an account in the first place. You can permanently delete it with the click of a button. You have full control over how many notifications you receive. If you spend too much time on Facebook, that’s a personal issue that is entirely solvable on your own. No one can FORCE you to use Facebook.
