It doesn't matter what America's founders wanted. In 1776, 13 colonies rebelled against the British Crown, they became the US. 7 colonies remained loyal to the crown and they became Canada.

Overall pretty good. I see others noted the absence of War of 1812. I have to correct a couple of errors, that arise from similar misunderstanding. My corrections however, will only reinforce your overall points. Your comment: "during the American Revolution about 20% of white colonists population in Canada remained loyal to Great Britain" is an inversion. It's closer to "less than 20%" were sympathetic to American Revolution. that could have been just a slip of the tongue, reversing those figures.

The statement "Europeans in Canada relied on Great Britain for protection and arms against the Natives" is also backwards. Accompanying the Quebec Act was another "intolerable act" – the Royal Proclamation of 1763 on Indian Territories. Remember in the "French and Indian War" its American colonists vs. French AND Indians… not French vs. Indians. American history writing assumes this 1763 Proclamation was rendered moot by the Revolution and then War of 1812 as the USA conquered the "Indian Territories" of the Ohio Valley and "Old Northwest." However, in Canada just as the Quebec Act is the foundation of French-language rights, the Royal Proclamation of 1763 is the foundation of Aboriginal constitutional rights – and is still in effect.

Native allies of the British Crown fought against the United States from 1776 through to 1815 overtly; and then were sustained subrosa as proxy forces from 1715 through to 1863 at least. (Supplies to Native groups fighting the USA inside American territories were officially cut after 1863, but it's possible that hybrid warfare style support continued right up to 1900.)

The Fenian Invasion of Canada in 1866 is definitely the biggest of these cross-border incursions, but not the only one or the last. American Fenians, sometimes with US government support, funneled money to Metis resistance in western Canada. An abortive raid in Manitoba in 1872 was the last attempt, when 20 Fenians carrying 200 surplus Civil War rifles attempted to cross the border.

There were also planned American invasions that never happened. The American treasury agent in Minnesota twice proposed (in 1850 and again in 1860) that Minnesota could conquer Manitoba with 1000 state militia. These plans while not acted on, were known to Canadian authorities.

The Confederacy did operate from Canadian bases as you say during the first half of the American Civil War. This includes Red River, Manitoba, from where they probably provided arms and supplies to the Dakota insurgents in the Minnesota Uprising of 1862. (This accusation was made by Americans at the time. Though denied by the Canadians, it was probably true.)

When the American negotiators brought up "English-only" marketing into Canada, they may have thought this only affected Quebec vs. the rest of Canada. However, Manitoba and News Brunswick also have French in their respective provincial constitutions. Additionally, approximately 300 First Nations have varying degrees of sovereignty which can include what language labels, signage and announcements must follow. All of these rights, and the fundamental differences between Americans and Canadians, trace back to the "Intolerable Acts" of 1763.

As you say all of these events have led to a much deeper wariness in Canada of the United States.

His sons bought up Tariff debts owed to importers for 20 cents on the dollar and when the Tariff policies lost in Court, the money paid to the Lutniks was never reported recently but they owned a large portion of Tariff debts effectively cornering the market, betting on the policies of Howard Lutnik and the Orange Blob.

Then this go around at the last minute when the deal is almost reached, Howard Lutnik acts to torpedo the trade deal which set off more tariffs that will lose in Court and his sons hedge fund has even more money to buy up Tariff debts for cents on the dollar again.

Thanks for acknowledging the history regarding our relationship with the US. Hopefully this spurs an interest in some Americans to actually seek out knowledge about the current fallout of trade talks. I've noticed many Americans don't even mention us when they list the countries Trump is trying to take over– because that's basically the trade deal they offered. The "51st state" trade deal.

I said, about 40 years ago, that states should remove one old non applicable law every time they create a new law. This would modernize our law books over time. It would also keep politicians from using old absurd laws to inflict their unwanted will on modern citizens.
