And is this even unusual? When such a niche sport has nine judges for each contest is it surprising that sometimes those judges have associations with the contestants? It probably would not happen much at international tournaments but I would not be surprised if it happened a lot at lower levels.

What's really interesting is that it exposed a huge side of Australia that lives in shadows. The Karens.
