PHILOSOPHY

The Most Terrifying Ideas Philosophy Ever Produced

Aperture | August 16, 2026

Some ideas can’t be unthought. Six arguments, followed all the way to the end. A mind that can never step outside itself to check what’s real. A philosopher who took reason further than anyone was prepared to go. The invisible architecture that decides what you’ll accept as true before you’ve had a chance to consider it. And the possibility that right and wrong were never out there waiting to be found.

None of this was built to reassure you. Settle in.

The best I can tell this is the product of a production team that bought out the original owner a few years ago. There is nothing substantive behind it. If someone can point me to a website for the presenter or discussions he has had concerning the channel, his background, etc., please let me know. This in particular appears to be a mashup of several earlier videos, but I reserve the right to be wrong.

You know I’m really not sure about this one. Are you saying mental illness as such is a “lie” fabricated by western language and beliefs? When you keep saying “you can simply choose to” (e.g. where to direct attention or awareness) who do you have in mind as an audience? I understand and appreciate your core thesis but I’m unsure whether the picture you draw is inclusive of all people. And, of course, there is a personal aspect to my question, for full disclosure – but my interest is genuine and I don’t have a strong hand to defend on this, just here too seek knowledge and inspiration. Thanks for your work

If you watching this video, I think that you would enjoy novel from Dostoyevsky-‘ Notes from underground’, it’s very strange and psychologically charge novel about self awareness, and danger that is there! Dostoyevsky was Russian philosopher who understood your soul, as he was tortured genius. I love his work, as I love this channel! Thank you 🙏

“I think, therefore I am.” “The only thing I know, is that I don’t know.” “We are not a single personality/person/strict moral compass. Event from even is situational and hits one of countless facets of who we are. I can be generalized for a description but I am who I am and who is there depends on the situation.

This video hits differently because it doesn't just explain philosophical concepts—it forces you to audit your own awareness. The section on "The Mind That Cannot Escape Itself" captures that hyper-reflexive loop so well. Once you realize consciousness is observing itself observing, you can't unsee it. Great breakdown of existential dread without falling into pure nihilism.

You know what's funny? And it's not really but it's a true story. My father is native American. Sorry was native American. And his father died in the coal mines when he was 5 years old. Now back in Virginia in the 50s a single native American woman could not raise six boys on their own so you can guess who came and got involved. Now my father and his five brothers ran off and lived in the coal mines for about 6 months until they caught them stealing diapers for my youngest uncle.
So my father never had his dad he died in the coal mines. Has mom died when he was 12. And he wasn't allowed to be raised by his mom.
But the brothers hung together. And the brothers protected each other.
Danielle my dad was always in my life. Even now that he's been gone for a long time.
So my father never had a dad.
